The Program

Committed to investing in human capital, major companies have spent millions of dollars in leadership development. Although these companies have been developing leaders at an ever-increasing speed, the call to create and nurture the leadership skills of agricultural and rural individuals has largely been unheard.

Answering this call, the Colorado Agricultural Leadership Program (CALP) develops and enhances the leadership capabilities of diverse men and women committed to the future of Colorado’s agricultural and rural communities.

Coaxing a living from the land, providing rural community products and services, agricultural and rural peoples have significantly contributed to Colorado’s tapestry.  CALP enriches this culture through a hands-on, interactive progrram dedicated to producing graduates with the vision and commitment to lead change and ensure the sustainability of Colorado’s agricultural economies and rural communities.

How to Apply

The Colorado Agricultural Leadership Program accepts applications year round.  The application process includes two steps:

Step 1 consists of an online application or PDF form that is available for download from our website. By completing this application, the candidate is providing information that helps our Screening Committee members better understand how an applicant may both gain and contribute to our leadership program. It is during the Step 1 process that we also ask for employer and spousal support form and references.

Step 2 is the face-to-face interview conducted by regional Screening Committees. These interviews typically occur in August and are an opportunity for committee members to better understand a candidate’s interest in the program, motivation for seeking the program and the potential for growth if admitted to the program.

Selection
The results of the regional Screening Committee interviews are used to select a class. Consideration is given to industry segment, maturity, commitment to personal development and other factors in selecting the members of a class.
